Jalen Bates-Caldwell got busy on the basepaths on Friday, knocking four hits in Mid-Carolina Rebels Varsity’s 14-2 victory over Woodruff. Bates-Caldwell homered in the first, singled in the first, homered in the third, and singled in the fourth.
Mid-Carolina grabbed an early lead. The Rebel’s scored on a home run by Bates-Caldwell, a double by Hunter Clinton, a sacrifice fly by Jeb Fulmer, a double by Jack Lominick, a wild pitch during Tanner Folk’s at bat, and a single by Bates-Caldwell in the first inning.
Fulmer took the win for Mid-Carolina. He lasted four innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three and walking one. Jonathan Bickley threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Tyler Watts took the loss for Woodruff. He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing six runs on four hits.
The Rebels Varsity totaled 13 hits in the game. Bates-Caldwell, Clinton, and Lominick all had multiple hits. Bates-Caldwell led the team with four hits in four at bats.
