Mid-Carolina Rebels Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 15-5 victory over Saluda on Wednesday. Mid-Carolina trailed 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning when Jeb Fulmer doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Cade Ruff led Mid-Carolina to victory by driving in six runs. He went 2-for-4 at the plate. Ruff drove in runs on a double in the fourth and a single in the sixth.
The Rebels took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Ruff doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Mid-Carolina put up five runs in the sixth inning. Ruff, Hunter Clinton, and Jacob Wicker all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Hunter Graham earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Mid-Carolina Rebels Varsity. He lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out eight and walking zero. Reagen Woods threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Noah Bell took the loss for Saluda. He surrendered five runs on six hits over four innings, striking out seven.
The Rebels totaled 15 hits in the game. Tanner Folk, Clinton, Fulmer, Bryce Medlock, Ruff, and Wicker each had multiple hits for Mid-Carolina. Folk went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Mid-Carolina also tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Clinton led the way with three.
